MISE EN SCÈNE
Un duplex des années 1920

SCÉNARIO
Les vieux résidents veulent créer de nouvelles expériences dans leur vieille maison.
Des petits espaces sont rejoints et le mur à l’arrière est ouvert au jardin, afin de refaire leur cuisine en une espace pour cuisiner et asseoir en couple et apprécier les vues à l’intérieure qu' à l’extérieure.
LE PLAN DE L'EXISTANT
The original pantry and butler's pantry are demolished to provide more space for the kitchen. A large opening is created in the back wall to allow more connection with the large terrace and garden.
LA NOUVELLE CUISINE
The cabinets spread out to line three of the four walls around a central wood block island.
The window anchors the sink on a white marble counter, great for baking. Part of the pantry is relocated to a tall cabinet with drawers and pull-out storage, with glass doored cabinets above to show off the special dishes.
The cabinets are made from prefabricated melamine boxes dressed with painted white and clear maple faces fabricated by the owner and a cabinet maker.
L'EXTÉRIEUR À L'INTÉRIEUR
The fourth wall is desolved and replaced with large custom wooden french doors, built by the owner.
The space is opened onto the adjacent terrace.
The refrigerator, laundry machines and additional items once housed in the pantry are contained within the floor to ceiling cabinets at the flanking wall.
LE MUR DU POÊLE
The stove, coffee and breakfast area, tucked into the corner formerly occupied by the butler's pantry, is framed by upper maple cabinets set upon a white base and blue laminate counters. The end is addorned by a tall glass faced tower that displays the stemware. A moderate sized island topped with a cutting board counter provides an adjacent work area.
LE MOTIF DU PLANCHER
A pattern derived from the owner's design, the harlequin motif of blue and yellow linoleum tiles sets off a yellow linoleum "rug" under the island and table area in front of the terrace doors.
