MISE EN SCÈNE
Une petite chambre mal formée
Une fois adéquate comme chambre de bébé
Mais elle ne sert plus les besoins d’une grande fille
Une fille de désir d'un espace uniquement à elle
Qui va la accompagnée à la fin de l’adolescence
SCÉNARIO
Une nouvelle chambre émerge par la refonte de l’ameublement et de la peinture.
Le plan étroit est ouvert et du rangement plus que nécessaire est rentré partout.
LE PLAN DE L'EXISTANT
La chambre, petite et étroite, était bondée de meubles. Elle débordait d'items en besoin de rangement, qui la rend difficile de trouver un endroit à "être" dans l'espace.
À trouver une place pour un nouveau lit était un défi, car le plan était trop restreint pour rentrer un lit standard dans sa largeur.
LA NOUVELLE CHAMBRE
The placement of furniture is reconsidered to maximize the open space in the narrow plan.
The heater is relocated and, with just enough room for a standard mattress, a custom platform bed is devised to fit under the window.
A simple platform is built upon prefabricated cabinets meant to be used in a kitchen, that offer deep under-bed drawers for extra storage.
The freed space in the middle of the room creates a place for study and art projects.
À LA RECHERCHE DES BONNES COULEURS
A colour palette is devised that expresses the girl's character and tastes, which guides the selection of the finishes and furnishings.
GARDE-ROBE ET DU RANGEMENT ADDITIONNEL
A dressing area is created on the far wall by way of a tall closed wardrobe with drawers within and an open frame shelving unit with additional drawers and room for toys and books.
LES TOUCHES FINALES
A magnetic and cork wall panel hangs across from the desk, created from
prefabricated pieces arranged in a custom layout.
LE MONTAGE DU PAQUET POUR BRICOLAGE (DIY)
All of the selected furnishings are specified with details spelled out for the client to easily order. The layout, phasing of work and construction of the platform is simply stated in step by step instructions for the client to do themselves.
